Eurovision 2016 : Estonia | Eesti Laul 2016 Participants


ERR of Estonia has this evening reveal the singers taking part in Estonia’s Eurovision 2016 selection.

A record breaking 238 songs were submitted to take part in Eesti Laul 2016. A total of 20 singers and their songs have been selected by a jury to take part in the two semi finals on 13 February and 20 February, with the final taking place on March 5.

The jury that selected the finalists were; Anne Veski, Olavi Paide, Erik Morna, Toomas Puna, Ingrid Kohtla, Eeva Talsi, Owe Petersell, Eisi Mäeots, Siim Nestor, Valner Valme and Kira Evve

The 20 hopefuls are:

  • Põhja-Tallinn – Ei ole mul olla
  • Indrek Ventmann – Hispaania tüdruk
  • Zebra Island – How many times
  • Würffel – I’m Facing North
  • Cartoon & Kristel Aaslaid – Immortality
  • Kati Laev – Kaugel sinust
  • Kéa – Lonely boy
  • The Jingles – Love a little bit
  • Púr Múdd – Meet halfway
  • Gertu Pabbo – Miljon korda
  • Meisterjaan – Parmupillihullus
  • I Wear* Experiment – Patience
  • Jüri Pootsmann – Play
  • Go Away Bird – Sally
  • Windy Beach – Salty Wounds
  • Mick Pedaja – Seis
  • Grete Paia – Stories untold
  • Anett Kulbin – Strong
  • Laura – Supersonic
  • La La Ladies – Unikaalne

The big names in the selection are the return of Laura who has been a runner up a number of times and Grete Paia who came second in 2013. Sven Lõhmus who has written a number of Estonian Eurovision entries has two songs in the selection while Stig Rästa was involved in the lyrics and music of Jüri Pootsmann’s entry.

  1. There’s not even any question who will represent Estonia. It’s obvious that Jüri Pootsmann or Cartoon & Kristel Aaslaid.
