RUV of Iceland has confirmed that they will once again be using Söngvakeppnin to select their participant for Eurovision 2016.
Submissions for the competition are open now and close on 2 November. The 2016 selection will mark 30 years since Iceland first participated in the Eurovision Song Contest. As has been common in recent years the winner of the competition will not only represent Iceland at the Eurovision Song Contest but will also win 1 million Krona (7,000 Euro).
The dates of the competition have not yet been announced, traditionally the semi finals and final have been held in February.
