The singer Jamala has said that she would represent Ukraine at the Eurovision Song Contest, four years on from her last attempt.
The singer has said she would participate in a selection process if no televoting or online voting were allowed. She would only participate if the winner is selected by a special commission. Jamala’s announcement that she would represent Ukraine in the competition comes four years on from her troubled 2011 Eurovision selection participation. Jamala in the run up to the competition had been the favourite to win the Ukrainian selection with “Smile”, but in the final on February 26 there we allegations of miscounting of votes which lead to a new final being held. Jamala withdrew from the new final say that the voting would once again be rigged.
