Ràdio i Televisió d’Andorra will not be returning to the Eurovision Song Contest in 2016.
RTVA confirmed the news to esctoday.com, the news means that we will not have seen an Andorran entry in the contest for 7 years come the contest next year in Stockholm. To date a total of 25 countries have provisionally announced that they will be participating in next years contest.
Andorra last participated in the contest in 2009 when Susanne Georgi represented the Principality in Moscow with “La teva decisió (Get a Life)”. Andorra first participated in the contest in 2004, with their best result coming in 2007 when they finished 12th in the semi final just 11 points away from qualifying for the final. Andorra has not returned to the contest due to the large cost of Eurovision participation for the broadcaster
